Delano trained in visual design and photography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam before furthering his craft in filmmaking at the London International Film School, graduating with honours in directing. .
In the early nineties he directed music videos for Take That, Lenny Kravitz and Simply Red, before building a commercial body of work for Nike, Paco Rabanne, Heineken and Mercedes-Benz spanning three decades.
His work has been recognised at the Cannes Lions, MTV VMAs, ADCN, Eurobest, Ciclope and The One Show.
His visual language is built on saturated colour, the geometry of the human silhouette, and a camera that moves with precision and ease.
He works across film, photography and video art.
In 2019 his AR video work was presented across the streets of Miami during Art Basel. His solo exhibition And I Stood By And Watched opened in Antwerp in 2022.
The films he writes and directs occupy a narrower register: characters at the edge of their own composure, situations held deliberately unresolved.
The Colour of Spinach screened at the Berlin and Buenos Aires Fashion Film Festivals in 2021, receiving nominations for Best Art Direction in Berlin, Best Story in Sarajevo and Best Cinematography at Shortcutz Amsterdam. The Road won Silver at the 2024 Creative Belgium Awards.
He is currently developing a dark comedy series and several features. He is based in Amsterdam.
